What to know about StatusShift and how to apply for a Green Card.
What is StatusShift?
StatusShift helps asylees get their green card application (Form I-485) ready. You answer simple questions, and we fill out the USCIS forms you need.
Is StatusShift a law firm?
No. StatusShift is not a law firm and cannot give legal advice. We help you fill out forms using your answers. If your case is complicated, talk to an immigration attorney.
Who is StatusShift for?
StatusShift is for people who have been granted asylum in the United States and choose to prepare their Green Card packet after living here with asylum for one year. We also check if family members can apply with them.
What forms are included?
Your packet can include I-485, I-693 Part 1, G-1145, and, if selected, I-912. If I-765 is included, the PDF includes separate mailing instructions.
How does the I-693 medical form work?
We fill out Part 1 of the I-693 for you. A doctor approved by USCIS (called a civil surgeon) will do your medical exam and seal the form. Do not sign the I-693 before seeing the civil surgeon.
Do I need to sign digitally?
No. USCIS needs you to sign with a pen on the paper forms you mail. Print your forms and sign them with black ink before you send them.
How is my data protected?
We use strong security to protect your personal information. We automatically delete your data 30 days after you download your forms.
What are the total costs?
StatusShift costs $39 for the main applicant, plus $29 for each family member applying with you. USCIS fees are paid directly to USCIS unless USCIS approves a fee waiver. StatusShift does not collect USCIS fees.
Can I include family members?
You can check if your spouse or child can apply with you. Each family member needs their own eligibility check and their own forms. Each one adds $29 to the StatusShift fee.
What if I have criminal history or complex issues?
The eligibility check looks for common problems that might need legal help. If we find one, we will tell you to get legal help instead of moving forward.
What languages are available?
StatusShift is available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazil). The Spanish and Portuguese versions use plain words and metric units where helpful, instead of only translating the English words literally.
